Chill'n in Chi-town

Well Im soaking in this last day with my fam here in chi-town until I return at the end of Sept. Its pretty hot today, we got the bbq going and the whole fam is here. Its awesome as silly as it may sound but Im getting a tan out by the pool. It feels weird being here, its great though living it up, chi-town style. AS always my mind is racing with new song ideas for Life pointe. I wrote 2 brand new songs last night. I can’t wait to share with you at the Theatre. Ill be flying out to Nashville early tomorrow morning and reina and “deko” as my nephews call him will be flying back to Miami tomorrow. Anyhow, thats it for now. Just thought I’d share that with you. See you soon.

Friday's Misfortunes make giants

I remember playing double dragon at our corner store. The store was called La Adelita. My friend ran into the small mexican store and said, ” jesse lets go! The friends from the park are here. That meant the “bishops” a rival neighborhood gang is in the neighborhood. Without thinking twice, I let go of the joystick and sprinted home with the feeling gunshot bullets would be flying soon… My neighborhood wasn’t the greatest growing up but man did I have fun. From kick the can to hide and go seek, but the midst of all that we were surrounded by gang wars. You kind of grow immune to it, so you are not so much scared anymore but careful. As a kid I got to see all types of weapons from guns to swords and machine guns. Yeah it was crazy to see that from time to time in the neighborhood. We would often hear that so and so got killed, someone was shot and stabbed etc etc, but as kids we saw beyond that and enjoyed the neighborhood. I look back at that day at the store when i ran out. I knew the gang from the park was here and when a drive by occured bullets would not distinguish you nor discriminate. If you are in the way… that run home is a blur to me, all I could hear was tires screeching in the background and people yelling. I ran those 2 blocks faster then ever. When i got into the house I went straight the living room,  I opened the curtains to look outside and thankful for survival. Then after that It was like nothing,I went through my daily routine, I had some macaroni and cheese went to the back yard and made bottle opener weapons. (they weren’t deadly, they shot bottle caps and soda can caps). Once the sun went down it was kick the can time.

Next chapter

It was so hot and muggy, I think if i would jumped up I’d get stuck in mid air. My friends and I sat on our front steps bored. We were unemployed, didn’t have any money, nor a car to take a ride in. Did I mention we were 11 years old. We patiently waited for the dude that lived across the street. The guy was always home, come to think of it he was a bumb! All he did was jogg around the neighborhood, work out, and have a different girlfriend every week. But he had one thing, the key to a great summer day. the key to open the….to be continued

The saturn project+chicago+double door=great night

Hey there, reporting from the windy city. Well my band the saturn project had an amazing show last night at one of Chicago’s top venues. It was great, alot of friends came out and we made some new ones. The set was filled with surprises. I took a moment to perform some songs no one has heard yet, in a solo piano style. It was really cool. It was great to perform with my brother again, it felt like I never left the stage. ..the magic was there. I m trying to get him to move to homestead!!! What was really cool was arriving at the venue and seeing posters with our name everywhere, plus the bands name on the outside billboard. When Reina and I were teenagers we’d walk around that area, I’d look up at the double door sign and say…One day I will perform there. For pics on last night go HERE. Over all it was a great night. Can’t even imagine the road ahead of us. In conjunction with Life pointe and everything else God has just really been preparing me. For what? Can’t even imagine. Its funny but I miss Homestead. My friends here kept saying “how does it feel to be home”, I was like, ” not sure, I’ll tell you when I go back.” Can’t deny Chicago is an amazing city, but for now homestead is my home. See you soon.

Survival of the fattest?

So we’ve decided to start up our own weight loss competition. We strive to discipline ourselves as leaders and followers of God, but within all of that we are now also striving to discipline ourselves in the physical. We want to be in great shape, feel great and live longer. Health is a huge factor that we often avoid. I truly believe God wants us to be healthy enough to handle our earthly tasks. So with all of that said, Pastor Travis, Pastor Paul, myself and Cacey have agreed to the challenge. In order to see where we are going, we needed to see where we are at. So we took a picture of our current condition. Here are our weight specs in so specific order, you do the guessing. 240.5 lbs, 161 lbs, 238.5 lbs, 235 lbs. We have 6 weeks to see who loses the most weight. Sept 9 is the deadline. So  the proteins begin and the carbs wither.

In the name of Love

Sunday went well considering we had some technical difficulties with the projection, never the less it was great. I must admit I was a little tired from the pre set up the night before, but it was well worth it. I was also fighting a cold, but as I have said in previous blogs we gotta rise above all that.Worship was cool. I introduced a new song to the people and we closed worship with U2’s “in the name of Love” anthem. It was really cool. We got to chill afterwards with an old Chi-town friend Benny. Good times bro! Great things are in the horizon for Life-Pointe I am excited. The message was pretty clear yesterday morning. Spiritual gifts are vital in our walk but can be deadly when they are driven by personal motives. Whatever you’re gift may be, use it to the fullest to build the city of God on earth. Love one another at all costs, and walk in the name of love.

On another note I had back to Chicago this wed to do a few shows, then I fly to Nashville to start the early stages of what will be our 1st album. I am excited. We will be working with some great and talented people. Chris(producer and piano player for Salvador. Nick(lead singer from Salvador and others. I also submitted a video for the next American Band by the producers of American Idol. I am not a huge fan of band battles, but I figured why not just try it. Who knows. here is the video we submitted. Let us know your thoughts. Have a great week. OH YEAH CREATIVE ARTS MEETING TONIGHT 730PM 1100 OLD DIXIE HIGHWAY! SEE YOU THERE.
