tonight

Well I walked as far as I could in the fierce cold. Times Square was pretty amazing, other than the fact that I smoked about 37 cigarettes in a distance of 2 city blocks. Second hand smoke that is. Dang! every other person was smoking! Anyhow its pretty cool how bright and lit the street is, even this late. I saw a few hot dog joints I will hit tomorrow. So far its been cool. Oh yeah, Eric Clapton show… Didn’t score any tickets. The cheapest I found on the street was 179.00. I’ll pass. I’m pretty much gonna call it a night. I almost got hit by few cars, i got offered weed twice tonight, I was bumped into quite a few times….Just like the Chi. I took a walk to the Journey Church offices, just to make sure I know where its at. I am so excited about it. Can’t wait. Right after the session at 3pm I am hitting the subway towards JFK and I’m heading home.

I am considering trying to write something this year or maybe just start..a small book. What do you think? Nothing fancy, nothing extravagant, just me. I have a few ideas fighting in my head day in and day out. Would you buy it? We’ll see…I just started having random thoughts  about it on the plane this morning.. Who knows. We’ll see. Well, until tomorrow the night belongs to the Big Apple.

Good Night.

La Manzana

Well, im here chilling in the lobby of the Pennsylvania hotel. It is madness in here. The lines are long, people everywhere, but I can’t check into my room until 3pm. I just had some lunch at Andrews, some corner little diner not too far from here. I’d get more specific with streets but im still trying to figure out where the heck I’m at. One this obvious, i am right across the street from Madison Square Garden. It has to be at least 15 degrees. It is freezing. Ive gone into 3 stores looking for gloves but I guess there’s not more winter stuff, everyone is preping for Spring. Maybe I should wear a spring shirt out eh?!!!!!! Love the vibe here in NY, reminds me so much of Chi-town, especially riding the subway. According to Paul the street blocks are alot shorter here than in Chicago. Well Paul, its not the case brotha man! They’re just as freak’n long. None the less I am making the best of this trip. Even though I wish my crew was here (reina and Diego). I’m gonna leave the major sight seeing and discovering when she’s here with me next  around. Rumor is Eric Clapton is performing at the garden if thats the case Im gonna see if I score some street tickets…lol. Tomorrow is my coaching network session I can’t wait. Totally excited, a little intimidated but all good. Started reading Velvet Elvis by Rod Bell, totally digg’n the read. Gonna try and finish it today. Spend some alone time with the G-O-D, and try and figure out how I ended up here. haber que pasa. Miss you Miami. I’ll most likely chat a bit tonight.

peace

Well Mom and Pops got on a plane this morning heading back the Windy City. Its gonnna be different again for a while. It is amazing to have your family in town. Now its time to treat Diego. He’s got a bad case of spoileditus. Mom and Pops do what Grandparents do best, spoil they’re grandchildren. All in all, it was an awesome time and I know they’ll be back, and who knows maybe to stay. Reina and Diego left to Orlando yesterday afternoon, so yes I am home alone. Ham sandwiches and soups…haha. Yeah right, I throw down on the kitchen when i can…Its tough being away from my Wife and Son. But it is what it is until sabado.

I tried to be the best host I could be last night at Life Group. We had pizza, rice, wings, cheesecake, chips, yeah our group is rock’n. We’ve definitely been challenging each other in our lives. Last night we talked about choices and that is all I can say about that. I can’t ell you anything though, You should’ve joined our group know what we know. One thing is for sure, we’re changing the world.

This Thurs I leave to the Big Apple for the first time. I will be part of a worship coaching network led by some amazing leaders impacting the world. So by thurs afternoon I should be lost in NY. I wish my wife could join me, but she’ll join me sometime in June. I will be taking this once a month trip for the next 7months. Get ready for what’s coming to the crew, its gonna be crassy. If you know of any great spots hit me up. I will be staying in Manhattan. I think that is all I have to say today…the chicken chili and chop stick salad at atlanta bread is phenomenal. The final unedited version of (un)christian is done, should be up and running very soon. If you want a copy of the film we will have order forms in the lobby for a great introductory price…lol. Maybe i”ll throw in some deleted scenes…have a great Tues. Visit my band blog page right here for updates.

A Taste of Freedom

Photobucket
So Diego is unstoppable right now. From crawling all over the house, invading our DVD area, climbing the stairs, spider-man on our bed and leaping off whatever he can! Yeah, its a handful but its so cool. To see him eager to discover new territory. He’s also gotten into these screaming frenzies, only when we’re in quiet places. Last night during our life group everyone shared about who or what has been a huge mentor or teacher in our lives. Everyone shared they’re prospective. I said I have not learned as much as I have from my boy Diego. He has this ambition inside that doesn’t stop. He takes risks, and is enjoying the freedom he has discovered. So I started thinking…That is such a huge lesson. Diego will no longer stay in my arms because he knows he can move on his own, unless he is totally exhausted then he hides under my arms and chills. He gets frustrated with crawling because he wants to walk and run. Its awesome and its such a huge lesson and a huge example of why I choose to live the life that I have.

I choose to do the right thing because I have experienced freedom. I don’t experiment with any drugs to enhance my experience of life because I don’t need it. I feel great the minute I wake up in the morning. Life is good when you’re free to enjoy it. I don’t get drunk cause I have experienced true freedom. Its not easy when you love Mojitos, but its called doing the right thing. Giving in would forfeit my right to it and in return become a slave to what seems to be an act of freedom. I enjoy life the way it was intended for me. I choose to be faithful to my wife and only her because I have experienced true freedom and true genuine love, anything else would be uncivilized. I would be lying if I said that is the easiest decision in the world. As we talked in Life group I mentioned how when I was single temptation was at its best and it was rough to stay true to what I believe. Now that I am married it seems like it doubles and triples. But I choose to be free and till death due us part. Reina is the only woman in my life! I choose Christ above anything else, because he is the reason for my freedom. Anything else just wouldn’t make sense. It is awesome to know I can do it all because I am free, I can enjoy my life to the fullest because I am free. I choose this life because I am free. Any other way would compromise my freedom. What do you think?

From the stage

Photobucket

Yesterday was amazing. The vibe was so intense and i truly believe mindsets were changed. I had a rough morning…I got up early Sunday morning to hear my red jeep sound like garbage truck smashing into a pole. OK maybe not that extreme, but it sure sounded like the keebler elves were in my engine slamming away at it with hammers. I rushed to the theatre to set up what remained to be set. All in the same mind set to lead our amazing community into worship. So much that I didn’t get to pray before I led worship. As I strummed the note for the first song, all I kept saying to myself was, “its not about me right now, but about God.” Tough thing to do when everything else is not going as smooth as other days. God is so freakn awesome. Pay off is amazing when we do something like that. You put aside your agenda, your feelings, your situations, your anxieties and just surrender in worship. I am really proud of our team, everyone is stepping up and going to the next level together. There is no stopping us!!! Keep up the great work. Eileen, you did an amazing job and Reina…what can I Say!!!!

We can’t get content with what we’ve been doing. Yesterday is gone and now only a memory, we have to look forward to this coming Sunday and make it even better and have it count.

p.s Travis said something really cool yesterday “we are the only Jesus some people will ever see”, very very cool! With that said. here is part II of (un)christian…LET ME KNOW YOUR THOUGHTS.
