It was a bumpy Sunday. From the Sound giving its last breath, to the lights having a mind of their own. Maybe you didn’t notice? That would be great. The Production team is definitely doing its best ti nip these technical glitches in the behind!!! Our new gear is gradually arriving and soon we’ll have a massive production squad. Did I mention my guitar string busted right before worship began? Yep it did. That is a guitarists nightmare when that happens live on stage. I guess If I had Dave Matthews guitar tech things would be better, but until then we’ll do what we do. Visit Travs page for more on Sunday. Start preparing for this Sunday, its gonna be crazy!!!!

Random thoughts and a Revolving Door

Well it is finally here. I felt good to make a call and actually here the other person. No more texting…Well, I will still text but not as the only option. Its so impersonal, now I can chat and use the 7000 roll-over minutes. Hope my service provider don’t try and pull a fast one on me. Hey Phil digging the phone already. You gotta give me some pointers on the curve.
April 5th is right around the corner. (hint hint) these are the New kicks I’d love to Rock!!!! 8.5 is fine!
This evening we have our first production meeting about Easter. Its gonna be one crazy weekend on Easter! From 1000’s of eggs and prizes, The saturn project setting the night on fire, and just a bunch of people everywhere!!! crazy. I hope Diego picks out the Xbox 360!!!! jk…..no I’m not kidding….I know its not possible….but its the thought that counts.
This Sunday is gonna rock. Playing a new tune!

I am considering getting a revolving door in my house. Here is why…My parents were just here not too long ago. They were here for about 2 months. It was awesome. Well they left back to the Chi. Alicia… alex’ girlfriend was in town with us, shortly after that. She left, now my sister and niece are here for a week, when they leave, my brother Luis and his whole family are driving down here,(my bro Luis is testing for the Coral Gables police. If they get this guy, the Gables is golden HERE AND HERE!!!! )when they leave, I leave to NewYork for session 2 of the coaching network, when I get back we may have a few chi-town people pay us a visit for Diegos first B-Day party, after that my friend Elliott and his family will be with us for a few days….and it just keeps going. A revolving door would be great.
Be well Miami
My new Friends…

I introduce to you the ER 25’s. Got my new ear plugs today. They’re creepy little things but are amazing at ear protection, especially for musicians. They were specifically designed for my ears. So if you try and wear them chances are they won’t fit. Unless we are long lost identical beings!! I have always been a stickler about protecting my ears. Even more now that I have tinnitus.(I hear a tiny little ocean at night. I guess it ain’t too bad.) Its pretty crazy how many people actually have this. Supposedly more than 50 million Americans have the T. It can be pretty annoying but its nothing that can be done about it, but get used to it. Until the big man upstairs decides otherwise. The ER 25’s are really cool and block out 25db of sound. Whats even cooler is that I can purchase different filters for different coverage and decibels. I usually wear the foam ones you get at Guitar Center and they work just fine, but there is nothing like having custom ones made for the working musician. You’d be surprised how everyday noise can affect you’re hearing. From Ipods to construction Concerts and clubs and yeah Churches as well. I look forward to sporting these guys on Sunday. Next investment will probably be in ear monitors…but I’m gonna have to break my piggy bank for that.
Be well
The DEW for Trav
Here let me back track on the mullet hawk. This is the look we re going for Travis right HERE
Here’s what we vote for Paul. HERE
But like you said, let the people decide.
Toughest thing…

There is something amazing about LPC. The diversity! Name the country we have it. Pick a color, its there. Music genre, take a pick. Just don’t request Gospel when Phil is around(there you go Phil, some trash for yah.LOL) You can’t place one group in a category here at LPC. In just in one row of the theatre you can find some amazing, interesting, unique individuals. Hats? There should be more. I am totally about hats. Paul tried to pull off a “fuser” hat, sorry bro. I guess some just can’t pull it off. Ive been trying to convince Travis about getting a fro-hawk or a cool cut mullet…ok maybe not as exaggerated as that one but something more modern GQ pastor. There’s no excuse about where to get it done, Alex is a great barber for trendy looks.
Basically You will not have a difficult time expressing yourself here. At all. This is definitley the type of place Jesus would chill at. From tattoos to comb overs, Club shirts(courtesy of Mr. Hollifield) to chucks! It is awesome. There is an amazing movement and revolution in the making here in Homestead and you are part of it. I’m sure it may seem a little intimidating with so much diversity. Fear and insecurity are the cause of Racism in my eyes. Here and there I’ll hear racial jokes, but quite honestly there not funny nor are they worth entertaining to me anymore. Especially after being here at life pointe. Its oozing with Culture all around !!!! There’s really no room for nonsense here! You can’t split this LPC Stew, there are way too many ingredients! and You can’t have one without the other. When you know where someone comes from, where they are and where they are going, that’s something worth respecting and appreciating to the fullest. Next time you are here take a look around, its what Jesus intended.
From the stage and Some….
This Sunday was very cool once again, oh yeah and the weather was cool. I think my blood is totally thinning out here in South Florida. When it hits below 60 I am freezing. Other then the minor technical difficulties It was yet another memorable service. Phil and Reina did an amazing job leading worship. My guitar pedals are screaming retirement very very soon. If you heard this weird screeching sound in the 1030am worship it was me, yes me! My pedals just stopped working. There is only so much I could’ve done to cover it up and play it off. I had to get on my knees and try to fix the problem. All 3 of the pedals just totally gave up, I was waiting for one of them to cough! Besides that all was grand. For more inside scoop visit there LPC bloggers. Especially Phils blog.(HERE). Somehow he became this blog guru over night. Always great rocking on stage with you bro!!!
After the worship set I did my normal run to the lobby and say whats up to the gate-keepers. Cris, Manny, Mark and Rich. Seems there was this little dog that looks like Benji wondering flagships parking lot. It seems he’s been roaming the streets for a while. Someone mentioned I should take them, but before they even said anything I thought of trying to take him home. Clean him up, feed him, take him to a vet and who knows become buds with him. But he just doesn’t let anyone near him. He’s got a collar, but no tag. Today during our staff meeting he showed up again, but ran away when we offered him some bread. I’m gonna swing by the parking lot after work and try to bring him home. Feel bad for the dog, he’s gotta be starving, unless he’s in disguise and has a better place then I do…Any suggestions on rescuing this animal?? That would be funny. Thats that.

World changers in Chicago…not even in high school yet!

What can I say? I am proud of these world changers. They’re not even in High School and already are changing the world. My nephews. I love getting that phone call from home to tell me about the amazing things they are doing. Before I left Chicago I told each and every one of them to make a difference with their lives, stay out of trouble, change the world, but have an amazing time!!! I spoke to you guys about CJ sometime back. He’s an amazing ball player in Chicago. Well looks like he had his first scout come out. They are recruiting him to be part of a traveling team. That is freakn awesome. They saw him play in his league and caught the eye of this coach. Things are looking promising for this little kid, well not so little anymore. Plus he started his own blog page check it out here. Genuine thoughts, but dang its awesome to see how passionate these dudes are about Christ. With some of the family moving here to Miami from Chi-town, I heard he was a little bumbed about the whole thing. BLAME ME for breaking us all up!!! haha. But after sharing with his youth at the church, hes become one of their leaders, also mentioning that his work for the young people in Chicago isn’t done. God needs them in chicago still… For a young kid to say something like that, I am floored and am so proud. This is the next generation! It is kids like this that give me assurance that the next generation is not afraid to make a difference and stand for Christ…and at the same time be a PRO-BASEBALL PLAYER!!!!! YEAH!!!
So now I introduce to you Alberto Santoyo JR. known to us as Chepy. He’’s an amazing pitcher, and artist. Well it turns out he wrote a letter to his school principle expressing to her how they need a mural to represent their class. So picture this 8th grade tall skinny kid telling his principle we need to express ourselves on this wall. Kind of reminds me of Moses walking into Pharaohs office. Well she agreed so him and his other artist buddies are gonna make a mural for the school! One of his friends wrote some poetry and Chepy put some art to his words. Turns out their art piece was submitted and published in a magazine. It made it to regionals and I believe they won their as well. Now they are skipping school this coming Friday to be recognized at this event for their collaboration of art and poetry!! A few years back I went to a little league game to see Chepy play for the first time. I was nervous cause Chepy didn’t look like a ball player. He stepped up to the plate, looked at me, and I was like dang, poor kid. They’re gonna totally strike him out. First pitch in Chepy rocked that to the fence, I started screaming and yelling, and cheering, “thats my nephew”. I am so proud of these kids making a difference in their world. Its gonna be hard going to one Major league game to see CJ, while Chepy is playing in another.hahaha. Can’t wait to put a glove and league ball in Diegos hands. “keep sending me stories guys!! each and every one of you’s is amazing!!! CJ, Chepy, Julissa, Kari, Mona, Meli, Manny
Finally…

Well I am finally getting a new phone. You’ve probably been wondering why I text so much on my Palm Treo. Well its not by choice, but my only option at this time. Well for the past 6months. The speaker on my phone busted, and I can’t make nor receive calls. All I can do is text message. But as of next week I will have a new phone. The blackberry Curve!!! Can’t wait to actually talk to people and use the 7500 roll over minutes I have accumulated. Well that’s that.

1773
My homeboys from Chi-town “1773″ are making some noise internationally. Shaggy, Just J and Moral ONE, They’ve been moving a good amount of units of their Constant Motion remake album now out in Japan. It was just a matter of time. We’ve shared the stage with these guys for quite some time, and it looks like the grining has paid off. We all knew this day would come for us all. Props to my peeps moving art and making a difference in the air waves. If you haven’t listened to their tracks go here.
Definitley stay tuned to 1773 as they move on to new levels. A few rumors have been going around about a TSP and 1773 tour…Who knows, maybe. For now they venture out to Japan for a 2week tour., and continue to bring the newness to Chicago. Keep on keeping on fellas. Its right around the corner for all of us. We’ll definitely meet on the way to the middle.
3-in-1
So here is the recap from this weekend. I got up early Friday morning with the Pennsylvania Hotels wake up call…Thanks machine lady. I got my suitcase and walked towards the Journey Offices. I was ready and knew it was 10 blocks from the hotel. I stopped at Smiths bar and grill for some breakfast. It was an Irish pub, but they served excellent breakfast. head to the offices where I let the Journey crew and the coaching network peeps from all over the state. I really look forward to all that I will learn there and bring it here to LPC. I will share with you guys a run-down later for it. For lunch we hit the famous Papayas for hot dogs. Great place! Turns out there are a few versions of papayas, the original is GRAYS PAPAYAS. From what every new yorker has told me there are multiple versions of everything…OK? After the session i hit the subway and head back to JFK to return home. Got into Miami at around 1040pm. Felt so good to be back and sweat.
On sat the Martinez and myself took a road trip to Sebring to get Reina and Diego who I was away from for a whole week. My little guy got sick that week with a little viral bronchitis, and an ear infection. I hate when he gets sick, I feel so helpless. But its part of growing up and parenthood. Gotta build up the immune system. On our way back we detoured through Fort-Myers and stopped and pizza UNO for some Chi-town style pizza…Its been a while and overdue!!!
Sunday was awesome besides there being some last minute surprises. I was fighting this stomach bug, it was ruthless. My body ached through the whole worship set and my stomach felt like I was getting sawed in half. Nonetheless was able to rise above that and not make it about me, but about totally worshiping God. There was an amazing presence on Sunday. Can’t explain it, you just had to be there. Joe Porter joined me for announcements and also starred in the fully engaged bumper. There are some rising stars here at LPC. Our Guest speaker threw down with some awesome word. All in all it was an awesome Sunday.
Exciting things happening here at Life Pointe. If you haven’t got plugged in and serving. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? Be part of the madness. That sums everything up for now. Still trying to get rid of this stomach bug!!! Be well….
