TSP-Tonight…

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
Well I haven’t blogged in a while. I’ve been busy like crazy!!! I look forward to some down time after this weekend. This is a huge weekend. Tonight we’re hosting a show here in Plantation Key. We don’t have the full band so Alex and I are doing an acoustic set. A unique acoustic set. I am playing on a grand piano that is not fully tuned but it sounds cool. Alex will be doing some light drums and percussion. It should be interesting. I’ll post some pics and videos later. Till then… be well…and keep on keeping on..

Little Balboa…and the Santoyo's

This kid is a warrior…”the Mexi-Rican Stallion”. I’m pretty sure he’ll ride his wooden horse again. Don’t mess with a Santoyo…You don’t wanna mess with our God-Father.

We’ll be back on the air this Saturday!!! So stay tuned. “Weekend with the Santoyo’s”.

Why I love my Job…

1. I am passionate about people and I am surrounded by tons of them.

2. I hope to make a difference in the lives of all those around me as I make a difference in  me. At least i hope.

3. I get to sing, write, perform and create music

4. I get to work on creative ways to bring the message of Jesus to all people.

5. Working for God is awesome, but challenging. When you are up to good, the devil’s got some heavy artillary waiting to destroy…But i will kick his “ace”

6. I have a cool boss/friend.  I get to work with my brother and comrad, and some great staff.

7. I enjoy my dress code. Alex says I look like a farmer today?…what do you think?

8. Every week is full of stuff to do!!!! Busy Busy Busy…Haven’t worked so much like I do now…

9. I have not spent so much time with my family as I do now!!! Love it!!!

10. God is the CEO and Dreams are bigger than ever…wait and see…

Misfortunes make Giants

Nobody walks around with a net underneath us, ready to catch us every time we may fall. We don’t walk around with shoulder pads, a helmet and knee pads everyday, just in case. But rather when we fall, we hit the ground hard. But as Rocky Balboa says, its not about how many times you get hit and fall, its about getting up again.

“Nobody said it was easy” -Coldplay

My Dad said the greatest things in life must be worked at. If Something is gained really easy, you can lose it just as easy. This road of life is not always paved roads, but trails full of obstacles and challenges. There is beauty in facing your adversity and overcoming. There is  a huge reward in forgiving and knowing God is in everything.

Speaking of Rocky Balboa, during life group last night. As the kids played in their playroom. Diego the lone ranger decided to ride his wooden Horse with no supervision. Being that he is way stronger then he is aware of. He launched himself off the horse and hit the corner of his eye. I remember seeing pictures of myself as  kid with a huge bruise under my eye due to a running accident where I wasn’t supposed to. I wish I could walk around with a net for Diego, so every time he falls i can catch him. I know that won’t happen, but I love the fact that I can take him in my arms afterwards and tell him he will be ok. Lesson learned….I hope. He’s on his way to becoming the Giant God created him to be. So now he is rock’n a shiner under his eye. He looks tougher than ever. Try messing with him now “bully at dolphin mall”!

Journals from a rookie Dad and Husband…

So this morning I got up and became the chef of the morning. I made french toast with a side of sausages. And I don’t mean  buying the frozen stuff and defrosting it. I’m talking about  making it from scratch.  Diego loved it, and Reina loved it. It is rare that I cook at home, but here and there i will dabble in the kitchen. I will admit I like cooking and I am a huge fan of Iron Chef, but I am too lazy to do it.

I have learned that being a husband and father is an infinite work in progress. You never quite make it, there is always room for improvement. Woman are designed and wired for detail. So they will always..always find something…It is what it is. The magic word is, “yes dear”, of course dear”, and “you are right”. Trust me fellas. Being a husband is awesome and being a dad as well, but it is alot of work. My wife is an amazing wife and mother. I don’t think I could fully function without her…

We spent sometime at the mall today and I sat back and watched Diego play with Blake, the  Johnson chicks and random kids. There was a point when Diego ventured off on his own and tried  to climb up this plastic turtle. Out of no where some random kid started hitting Diego in the face. The kid must have done it about 3 or 4 times. I sat there and watched as my little guys character grew but wished he knew how to defend himself. It burned me inside but its tough love making him stronger. I wish I was a little kid again.  I’d walk over there and show that bully with a tiny fist to the nose. But I let it be. My little guy was tough, he stood there unshaken! He stood there looking at “the gooch”, and stared him down until the gooch’s mom came and whooped him for my son. Tough love is a tough thing to do! You can take someone out the hood, but you can’t take the hood out of them. I want my son to be respectful, peaceful and loving, but when push comes to shove you better believe he will be ready to protect and defend himself, his brothers and sisters, and those around him. Especially  what he is passionate about…The joys of fatherhood…gotta love it!!! It is a work in progress…you feel me?

A Random Hump Day…

Photobucket
Today is a gorgeous day in Homestead. Makes me wanna go chill by the water and eat sushi. But duty calls. I’m here at the office working on this weekend’s set list. Next week my friend John john and his wife Gynger will be joining us for a whole week. and their little newborn, It’s gonna be awesome to chill and hang.

Diego has been growing out of his shoes and shirts really fast lately. I’m gonna take little man shopping this weekend and get him some kicks and T’s. I also think I may trim his “Fro”. It is totally “OC”.

I worked on some musica last night with some LPC peeps. We have more musicians than I thought. Billy! keep up the good work on drums bro.! Not bad for 3 days. Remember, its about staying in the pocket!

My wife hates my diesel jeans. Not because they are diesel jeans, nor because she may think they are not cool. More because I hide my jeans to avoid them from being washed. Yep! I said it and have no shame in it. I totally hate the way jeans feel after they are washed. So I tend to wash my jeans every 3 or 4 months. Is that rockstar or what?!!! The key is to air them out. You don’t wanna walk around in dirty stinky jeans. Airing them out is the solution. Then they feel great when you wear them. I know, its weird, but its rock n roll. It’s funny but the minute I wear any shirt or T, “socks or underoo’s”  they go straight into the hamper to wash. Jeans?…totally different story…I am just worried one day my jeans will walk themselves to the office…

Have a great hump Day…I can see the weekend from my office….
