Life group evening with Fire…

We had a great Life group last night. We pretty much chilled out, Lit a fire pit, ate tons of food and played some TV trivia game under an amazing South Florida evening sky. The men prevailed over the women. So what does it mean to win a TV trivia game? Well, according to the women we are couch potatoes. I couldn’t believe some of the dudes knew the songs to shows like Melrose place and 90210…LOL…Dang…Come on fellas!!! I knew of few of the shows but not too many. All in all it was a great evening. Andrew Gil, my life group “compadre” is taking off to train in GA for 7 months. We’re gonna miss you bro! So before we all head out last night we prayed over him and his wife. Time flies dude, you’ll be back before you know it. Thanks for the wine tasting tips. I never knew there was an intricate science and analytical steps to tasting wine, its origin, and the grapes and vines that birthed it…Cool stuff. LOL. Beware of Adriana…she cheats when the competition gets heated. Arturo brought the sound and entertainment, but I think he gave the women too many clues during the game. Kelvin is totally knowledgable of TV shows, i think he won it for us. We had a great time.

A weekend Re-cap from the stage…

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
It just doesn’t stop. The past few week’s I’ve felt as if I live at the airport, flying in and out of Miami. Well this weekend we ventured off to Nashville where I hid in a studio in Franklin TN and recorded anthems for a broken world in spanish, “Himnos para un mundo herido”. The project turned out better then I expected. I gotta admit it felt weird singing these tunes in Spanish, but over all it was a great experience. Chris Bevins Co producer of Anthems for a broken world did an exceptional job with the Spanish version. It will be available very soon. There will be a few more surprises in this record, unreleased music not found on the anthems album as well as some original Spanish tunes I wrote some time back. It should be great. The cool part of this trip was that Reina and Diego were with me. It is so cool when you’re family is with you. Plus Diego sang along on the “dynamite track”. You might hear his air drum solo. Got to see a little bit of Nashville and totally loved it, and also go to see some friends we don’t get to see too often. On our way back from Nashville we ran into Wyclef at the Fort Lauderdale airport. It was really cool. I will admit I was a little star struck at first. I was like “what tha..heck…its freakn Wyclef” I said that in my head of course. He was kind enough to take a pic with the Saturn project bros. Great way to end our trip. We also gave him our Anthems CD. I wonder if he actually listened to it? What do you guys think?

From the stage

Sunday was great at LPC, as always. I am really proud to say that the production crew is really coming together in an great way. Many people stepping up and proving they are great leaders. Special thanks to my crew that makes it happen week after week. Trav brought some great word and wrapped up the New Testament challenge series.

Sunday evening we packed the commander and rode to the Keys, which is a beautiful ride. I actually sat in on bass with the band at plantation key. It was really cool. I felt like a real bassist, while Matt led worship, Aaron on drums and Reina on BGV’s. I kept my sunglasses on during worship and someone mentioned I looked like Buddy Holly. LOL. The stage looks amazing at our plantation key campus. Matt totally made that a killer stage, Props to you bro! And it’s not stopping there. The renovation continues.  That’s that. Great week, great weekend, and I am ready to do something great this week. Have a great one peoples…

The Anthems Journal-memory 1

PhotobucketI had no stage, no fancy lighting, no expensive piano. I did  not have a piano bench so i used a regular chair. It was blazing hot outside and no fan nor A/C around to cool me down. It was not a sold out show, nor were there any press and record executives present. Our opening act was a group of kids with no Mothers or Fathers to claim them as their own children. They are the once forgotten, but the blessed! They once had no hope but tonight there would be.  They danced their hearts out and gave an amazing performance. As soon as we were ready to strike the first note to our opening song “Dynamite”, the crowd of kids surrounded us. They were the most excited group of  kids I have ever seen.  Smiles from cheek to cheek, eyes glowing as they rocked the dance floor with no shoes. W played and performed our hearts into these kids. We all had the time of our life that night. The kids standing directly infront of my piano kept me entertained with their amazing dance moves and mosh like head bump’n. From time to time they’d make silly faces at me. Later i realized they were mimicking my faces. I make ugly and silly faces while I sing…Not intentionally though…

All the lights came down at the orphanage with only the stars glaring down on us. We closed the show with the beat machine’s strobe light water effect on the drums, the kids went crazy!!!

After the set we hugged the massive group of kids, we showed our love and appreciation to the PCL staff and gave our farewell to the wonderful widows who work at the orphanage. As I walked towards the bus I promised the widows and children I would return again very soon. I told them next time around I would bring my wife Reina and my son Diego. We packed the bus and were on our way. I reached out from inside the bus and one of the teens approached the van, he reached out to me and said, “please don’t forget me”…Sheesh…talk about emotional. I told him I’d never forget him and I asked him to never forget me. I wanna believe inside my heart we did more that day than just perform, but maybe gave hope to the hopeless. In the grand spectrum of this Universe our world is tiny and all things are possible.

As the bus took off  and the kids screamed outside the bus I began to think that in a few days  from that  point and time, I will be taking the stage at Winterfest to a crowd of 18,000 screaming people. A massive stage, all the lighting I can think about and imagine, music celebs at hand, cameras everywhere and fresh water to take for granted.Photobucket

I promised myself I would not forget what just happened in Cambodia. That by far was one of the greatest shows I have ever been part of. Later that night I told the TSP fellas that we should never forget a night like this. Days from now we will bring our music to an arena in TN, but that will never compare to bringing music, God and Hope to a group of children that had none. I am not sure what can top that?

So we arrived at Thompson Bolling Arena, it was a rainy day but the massive crowds were marching towards the entrances. The butterflies began to stir up inside and my stomach started making weird noises. Yep, I was nervous as heck…to be continued…Photobucket
