Guard your heart…

(listen to “a big bird in a small cage by Patrick Watson) as you read the blog.

I’ve made the mistake of sharing my heart and dreams with the wrong people. I think from time to time we all do the same. Don’t get me wrong, it’s cool to share your heart at times, we just gotta choose the right ears, at the right time. If you are like me I get anxious to share something, do something, tell everyone and anyone about it…I’ve learned the hard way in my travels and on this journey.

All I can do is compare it to the story of this young dude who shared his crazy dream with his brothers…His intentions were sincere and innocent. But the dream was way too big for them to comprehend. So what happened? his brothers threw him in a pit and faked his death. This young dude eventually got sold as a slave and made for quite a journey…I think alot of heart ache and detours could have been prevented but regardless, that dream was part of his Destiny and in due time he would get there. I think alot of times, the wrong people listen to your heart and dreams and try and kill your dream. Not because they hate you, despise you etc…( well they might be all that but) most likely it’s because they can’t see “that” dream for you. They can’t comprehend it.

This often results in discouragement, second guessing your dreams, giving up, depression and settling for everything but your dreams. Be wise, be cautious, surround yourself with dreamers, visionaries, revolutionaries. Hold it in a bit longer, let the cacoon take it’s course. Your season will come. Wait for the right time to strike. Don’t use up all your change. The tide will turn back around. So be strong and grow up! If you’re not, then work out, get tough skin and face your giants. Take in the negative with a grain of your choice and let that be fuel to go for it even more. Don’t ever give up based on a fruitless opinion ..Chances are you’ll meet them on the way to the middle! But rather listen to those who lived, have survived, have fought, have been persistent and have been committed to their heart and the value in protecting it.

Cheers to all…
