At the Cure Wash..

Well this morning I volunteered to help out the youth of LPC at their first car wash. It was cool to hang a little with the youth and wash some vehicles. We had a good turn out considering not everyone we thought would be there actually showed up. There was also a yard/garage/parking lot sale. Many people donated some random stuff to be sold for the Youth Camp. Reina was the sale person of the day. She negotiated some pretty good prices and helped raise some dinero for their cause. By the end of the day I was soaked in h2o. My jean shorts were pretty much stuck to my legs and my hands and feet look like raisins. It was good organized chaos. For all who came out to support the cure, thanks a ton, it was good. See you manaña

Remember that bracelet fad? Everyone had one. What was terrible about wearing them was the pressure of being perfect in the eyes of the non-believer. The fact of the matter is that I screwed up every-time I had it on, and I saw others do the same. We focused so much on the bracelet and forgot its essential motive. Someone must have made a ton of money on them things. Is that harsh to say? Is it not true? Don’t get me wrong on this issue. Or even the “Jesus is my homeboy slogans”. Or have you seen the T-shirts? I am not gonna lie I have a pair of earing studs with the image of Jesus on them. They are totally cool! So what’s with all he Jesus super hero toys now? WWJD? Seriously what would he? I thought about this last night as I watched “Pirates of the Caribbean”. If he were here right now in the flesh walking with us what would he do? What would he desire? what would he drink? what would he dream. I think many people would be surprised to what Jesus would be like here with us no. In our pop culture, our city, our language, so on and so forth. Or what music would he listen to? Where would he spend most of his time? Jesus had no home, he walked from place to place. He didn’t spend a whole lot of time in the church, but rather with the people. There’s a huge significance there!!(that’s a whole different bog in itself). We have this perception of Jesus..but is it right? Would he use modern technology if he was here walking in flesh like us? Would he wear converse all-stars? or flip flops? Long or short hair? A hat or no hat? Would he rather have lunch at an upper class spot? or have lunch at the local pub? You wonder? I do? He wasn’t afraid, he did the right thing, he was all about the people, he honored his Father, he was tough, he said the truth, he healed with his hands, spoke life with his voice…I wonder?….
